With three fabulous games played the Open squad have secured second place within their group, which also means they will finish within the top 8 teams of the Championships, something never before achieved by Northern Ireland.
Game 1- Sri Lanka
Our girls played and beat Sri Lanka in the first game of their group stage 65-56. A strong performance and a good start to the group stages.
Game 2- Australia
A fabulous and strong performance from Northern Ireland. Well contested and great preparation going into the final group game against Samoa.
Game 3- Samoa
In another strong performance from the NI team an early lead was taken and the girls didn't look back. With Samoa as favourites having reached the quarter finals in the previous two World Championships, the win has been even more significant.
"I'm beyond delighted, it was an unbelievable performance," Coach Elaine Rice. With this win the squad now progress to the quarter finals as runners up in Group A. Incredible!

SRI LANKA - Monday 4th July, 07:30 GMT
Quarter breakdowns: 17-12 32-28 48-42 Final score: 65-56 WON
AUSTRALIA - Tuesday 5th July 09:45 GMT
Quarter breakdowns: 22-8 43-13 60-24 FINAL SCORE: 75-33 LOST
SAMOA - Wednesday 6th July 03:00 GMT
Quarter breakdowns: 18-8 31-17 48-22 FINAL SCORE: 66-37 WON
QUARTER FINALS v England- Fri 8th July 05:15 GMT
This game will be shown on SKY Sports4 on Sunday 10th July, 3pm
FINAL SCORE: 87-16. A poor NI performance against a very strong English side. The girls are left disappointed but look forward to their next game against South Africa.
SOUTH AFRICA: for a 5th/6th place play off position.
A strongly contested match from NI saw them put in a terrific performance against the 6th ranked side, narrowly missing out on a victory that would have seen them playing for the 5th place. NI challenged the SA side and earned their name once again as one of the 'teams to watch'.
FINAL SCORE: 46-41, a terrific effort.
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: 7th/8th place play off.
A tired NI squad set about challenging in the same style as the previous evening against South Africa. Unfortunately the strength of the Trinidad team showed to be too much for our girls.
FINAL SCORE: 56-38
Northern Ireland finish in 8th position overall. The best result ever achieved by a NI Open Squad. An incredible result and great in raising the profile of Netball within Northern Ireland as well as our countries international profile.
